Ingredients:
1 pound sliced white mushrooms
1 small red onion, diced
4 cups tightly packed greens (I used baby spinach but chopped collards or kale or any combination will do)
4 cups water
2 TBS Bragg’s Organic Sprinkle (see notes)
1 TBS low sodium veggie base ( I use Vogue brand)
1 ½ cups raw cashews
2 dates
½ tsp ground black pepper
½ tsp ground nutmeg
¼  cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
Place all ingredients, except the cashews, in a soup pot and simmer until the onions are soft.
Place the cashews in a high powdered blender and add just enough of the soup broth to cover. Blend until smooth.
Add about half of the remaining soup to the blender and blend until combined.
Return blended soup to the pot and stir to combine.
Top with some chopped walnuts.

I'm not a Final Fantasy fictionkin (I'm spacekin), but I love the series so I decided to think of some ideas to help out anyone who is. A common item in the games is Phoenix Down, which revives someone who's knocked out; I imagine a spicy black tea might emulate that? Any Aeris/Aerith fictives might want to look into angelkin food tags and things with flowers or fresh fruit and veggies. The Magic Perrier drink a while back on the drinks tag might emulate a Potion/Hi-Potion/X-Potion well.

High King Varian Wrynn’s Tea

archmage-proudmoore:

I’ve been having trouble with my throat as of late, and help came from an unlikely source:

The High King himself.

I was complaining about my sore throat, and he suggested this… concoction, that he used to soothe and heal all of his own throat ailments. I was skeptical at first, but when I actually tried it, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked, and how good it tasted.

Ingredients:

TeaWater
A couple slices of citrus (I used lemon.)
A tablespoon of honey
A tablespoon of butter
(I added about a tablespoon and a half of rose syrup, but I know most people don’t have access to that.)

Boil your water and brew your tea as hot and strong as you can possibly stand it. Squeeze the citrus into your cup, and drop the squeezed slices in. Mix in the honey and butter, and drink as quickly as you can.

As I said, I was skeptical, but nothing helped my throat pain until I tried this. Of course, if you think you need to, you should definitely see a doctor, but if your throat’s just irritated, or you just want to change up the flavour of your tea, go for it!

Pokémon – Old Gateau

With the return of Gourmet Gaming, I felt a return to the classics (in terms of both food and games) as a gentle ease in would be best. Pokémon recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to ‘Twitch Plays Pokémon’ where gamers set aside their differences and took part in some (mostly) jolly co-operation in a bid to become Pokémon master. When it came to the Old Gateau, I decided to base the recipe on the traditional Japanese treat of Uirō, which is rather similar to Mochi in texture and taste. I decided only a sweet from the Edo period could have survived so long in the Old Chateau. I like to think maybe it’s the final tasty evolution of a Gengar…
