Kin Food
Do you have an unseelie section...? >.>

(Hello fellow Unseelie being!)

We don’t have a tag specifically for us Unseelie folk, and our tastes vary a whole lot. I’d suggest checking out the Faekin tag, unless you’re looking for a specific flavour. Then I’d be more than happy to help you out (because now my interest is piqued too).

In your opinion; could you be both a furry as well as a 'kin? Because the actual definition of furries is just liking anthropomorphic animals.
Anonymous

Well yeah, absolutely. There’s no reason why you couldn’t be both.

-Wolf

For a good while, I was pretty sure that I was 'kin. Snow leopard, to be exact. I know for a fact I have strong phantom ears (I can twitch, swivel, and touch them and they'll react) but, I'm also a really big furry. So I'm not sure if I have ears because I'm really into furries and have been for eons now (try, 3 years old I think?) or if it's because I really am a 'kin. I've always had tenancies close to a big cat, but I'm just.. really unsure.

Like I was saying before, call yourself whatever you feel comfortable calling yourself!

I call myself Wolf because it’s the closest to what I’m feeling without having to explain the strange realities of what I’m actually feeling.

If you’re a furry, then be a furry. If you’re ‘kin, then be ‘kin. It’s all up to you.

No one can tell you who or what you are or aren’t.

What do you think the reason behind kin being put in human bodies is? If that makes any sense at all. I'm not very good at wording things.
Anonymous

Well, just like everyone’s experiences with being ‘Kin are different, their theories about how we came to be vary.

I know a particularly popular one is the idea of rebirth/reincarnation. Which is just that the spirit of a deceased animal/whatever is born into a human body. Though this theory doesn’t explain fictionkin and mythkin or anything other than confirmed existing animals as kintypes.

There’s theories about enchantment and hexing and just flukes.

I personally believe in a sort of reincarnation. A kind of fringe amongst the fringes. I call it the Gates Theory. But that’s just my experiences and beliefs which have lead me to that conclusion.

Short answer is: I have no idea.

-Wolf

I don't suppose you have any where I can go to see if I'm a... otherkin. Because well, looking over the tag and going through about sixty pages of this, it's like, whoa. I relate to some of this stuff and it kinda makes me want to... know.

There’s nowhere you can go to know if you’re ‘kin or not. There’s no definitive checklist of requirements you have to meet in order to be ‘kin. Only you can decide if you want to classify yourself as one or not.

I personally did a buttload of meditating and - admittedly - read my runes more or less obsessively for a while.

I can, however, tell you that the Otherkin tag isn’t exactly the best place to start looking. It’s not exactly known for its credible sources and reasoning.

The best I can do is suggest a little (or a lot) of soul-searching.  I love The Otherkin Field Guide - a lovely little book by Lupa (I’m fairly certain you can get a free e-book on the Kobo/chapters/Indigo site(s) ). My copy is as well worn as a digital book can be.

And, as always, you can ask us questions and see if what you’re going through matches up with any of us (though don’t expect it to because everyone is different).

What are kins? Sorry

Wheeewwww this question again.

You may want to check out our Otherkin tag.

Hello! I'm a wiccan red Fox kin and was wondering if you had or could find any recipes related to wiccan sabbaths on a Fox kin diet. That would be really helpful! ~Blessed be

We have a Paganism tag and yes there are things in there for Foxkin.

-Wolf

Some good 'Kin/therian blogs: snowleopardtherian, spiritus-sonne, owl-epsilon, genuineferalswagger, liminalbeast, lifeandlycanthropy, apogeesystem, kitkatpurrpurr, your-deer and susitar :)
Anonymous

I didn’t go through all of those blogs but I know a couple and they’re fairly good. I can especially speak towards the credibility and helpful nature of susitar.

-Wolf

I was looking in the birdkin tag but it doesn't seem like there's all that much for birds of prey. Is there maybe another tag I'm missing?
Anonymous

Yes there is and it’s the Raptorkin tag which I really should go about fixing.

-Wolf

For the phoenix-kin who asked, I would suggest cinnamon or pomegranate recipes.
